coast

The boys and I and my mom took a train trip to the coast this weekend. Such fun.
This is the same trip we did this time last year. My how my little travellers have grown! We walked in the woods and ate fresh fish and went to the museum to get out of the rain.
And my sister and her husband were performing in a musical. I didn't get any pictures because I was busy entertaining overtired kiddos (as was my mom- she walked up and down a lot of stairs with Dorian!) But it was good fun. My sister sings beautifully and my brother-in-law makes a very fine dancing police man!
We also had a great visit with Annie and her family. Thanks be to blogging for bringing this lovely family into our lives! We spent earth hour together- I didn't get many pictures, but Annie did. Lots of Dori loving the candles. A weekend well spent!

I hope your weekend was full of adventures. I will try to actually get here during the week sometimes too!

work and play

What could be more fun as a project for our mama-Ari time than washing the silks?Hanging them up to dry of course!

A bright, happy Saturday to you all!

(and clearly I did not properly block that new handmade woolly sweater my sweet aunt sent (there is a matching one for Dori too!) Off to do that now so that my boy's belly can stay warm! )

new words

Dorian has has been changing and growing and learning so much lately and I've been feeling like I want to preserve it all somehow. He is so much fun, such a happy and contented little guy, often off playing his own games- he loved the wooden cars and the toy animals and the pots and pans. He has been practicing his jumping lately- which is so outrageously cute as his feet don't leave the ground despite enormous energetic attempts and a big proud grin. He also has some groovy shoulder-shrugging-head-bopping--spin around dance moves that are very fine.

Tonight he learned how to play the kazoo just in time to join Ari's "band," and he was so very proud of himself. (If you would like to picture this scene for a moment- Mama and Papa snuggled on the chair with the boys on the couch singing and ukulele-ing and kazooing for all they're worth, us holding in our laughter at the cuteness of it, them, ever so earnest about their performance. We do keep each other entertained over here.)

He is talking a bunch these days- his newest words are "moomie" (smoothie,) "up" (for up, down, out etc.) "hot" (for hot, cold, or otherwise uncomfortable,) "pop pop" (popcorn,) "oooohhh noooo!" when something has gone wrong and "woaaah!" when something is impressive. And, most importantly, "nanu." (his word for mama's milk.) I hear this one a lot!

And Ari too has lots of new words and complicated stories to share these days. Like yesterday he was telling me about a guy who makes music on a tree (a cool video we found via Wendy that we all love,) and how he uses his fiddlestick to make a sound on the branch. I was confused for a moment wondering what he meant by fiddlestick, but then I realized he meant a violin bow of course! Could these kids be any cuter?

I hope your weekend is full of lots of sweet moments!

puddles and clay

Sometimes all you need is a little mud and some fresh play dough to make the day.

I hope your days held some glistening, squelchy treasures!

a bit more

More trip photos to share. Parks and docks, sweet friends and green spaces, marble runs and jellyfish. Pretty much sums it up. Though good food should be in there too, but I didn't have the camera out.

(Can you spot the tomten in the stream?)
(Are they not the coolest things? I could have sat and watched them all day.)
And goodnight to you all!

we're back

We are back from our little adventure and adjusting back to our slow farm home pace. We got a bit wet but had a good time. And as always, glad to be home.
