Papa is gone for a few days, so I'm trying to devise ways to keep the boys out past bedtime to avoid having to get them both to bed on my own. It feels a bit like cheating, but we had a good time at the lake last night, eating a simple yummy supper, making new friends, playing in the sand and watching the boats.
I put them in PJ's at the lake, hoping they would crash on the way home. One did. The other was still full of energy and wanted to do crafts before bed. I am still counting that as a success. Now we are heading off to the pool (too cool for the beach today-) I am hoping for two sleeping angels to carry into bed tonight- wish me luck!
I few pictures of what we've been up to. The warm weather is finally here, it has been so beautiful. We are just heading out the door now to the beach. Yay for summer!
The countertop kind. And kefir and kimchi and sourdough pancakes. I've been in the mood for kitchen experiments. Homemade crackers and sauerkraut are next on the agenda. Summer is supposed to return tomorrow, maybe then I'll start spending a little less time in the kitchen.
We were so blessed to host some dear friends this past week, whom we had not seen in several years. The boys fell in love with them, and we had such a lovely time together. We went hiking into the mountains- something we'd been talking about doing, but hadn't done for awhile. There was plenty of times where the kids needed to be carried, but all -in-all they did great and were delighted to make it to the top of the mountain, where they became mountain goats (above picture) and ran and jumped and bleated for all they were worth.
The weather has been unseasonably cold (not the best weather to try and sell our friends on moving here!) but apparently it is supposed to warm up again tomorrow. So today will be a last day of indoor chores so that we can get back to playing outside.
It has been wonderfully busy and full around here. Catching our breath. Feeling so glad that summer holidays have begun.
Such fun was had at the festival this weekend. I think this is my favorite time of year. I grew up going to festivals, and watching my own children play and dance and soak it all in is a delight.

A very busy week and a full weekend ahead. Trying to find moments to catch my breath and be present with the beauty that surrounds me. Evening walks to get the litttlest one to sleep has been an unexpected time of quiet and peace.
In between rain showers it briefly got warm enough to inspire Ari to pull out the sprinkler. Gleeful shrieks of two happy children and sun glistening on the wet grass. Sweet taste of summer to come.
