A weekend with babe and mama at home fighting a cold bug and papa away. Lots of drawing and making stuff and snuggling under quilts. Those bugs didn't have a chance- we are feeling better already. This is Ari's first time fighting an infection all on his own, as he has just weaned. It is bittersweet- my sweet little boy is growing up and that chapter of our lives together has passed- with it's tough tough start leading into a long healthy relationship. We will both miss it, but with the pregnancy, it became clear that the time had come and we were able to do it in a way that was gradual and pretty easy to accept. And it is clear that he is healthy and happy and can fight bugs all on his own do so many big-boy things: walk up the stairs on his own, pull his own pants up after using the potty, count ("one, free, seven, nine, ten firteen! firteen!") sing lots of songs, make "funny guys" with playdough, and help mama and papa with lots of important tasks. Our sweet baby is growing up.
Time flies! Ari is such a little boy now, not a baby anymore. Just in time to be the big brother is perfect I'd say!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how fast they grow up. I miss the baby years but the toddler and preschool years are so much fun and sweet too.
ReplyDeleteSweet guy. I'm so glad you were able to do a gradual weaning with him. I had to wean Dieter suddenly and it was tough for both of us, but maybe more for me. Rainer, on the other hand, can nurse as long as he wants.
