| Our trip into our back woods to get out tree has become a well loved annual tradition. We have learned the best spots for trees, and we choose a tree that is crowded in with a bunch of others, or that is on a path or fence line. |

| This year headed out as the sun was beginning to set (about 3:30 these days,) and trudged through the deep snow to find just the right tree to bring home with us. |

| We have gotten in the habit of packing a little picnic to have beside out tree before we cut it down. This year it was oranges and nuts and hot apple cider. |

| We dragged our new tree home and let it sleep in the pump house to melt the snow from its branches. |
I am going to try and keep posting through the holidays, but between our slow internet and all the busy-ness of the season, it is not always easy to get here. I'll pop in when I can, but send out some holiday hugs now, in case I don't get here as often ans I'd like. Happy holidays!
Oh those lovely traditions!! This year, we will have to find an orange tree to put up the little lights that we bought at the market yesterday.

wow, snow and everything...if i miss a few posts, so much happens. sorry to be so in and out, i'm trying to sleep more, and connect more with the boys and have been blogging in a different rhythm. i'm hoping to keep up more presence without compromising sleep and time with the boys!
ReplyDeleteyour tree fetching looked so fun, we are off to the farm next door's tree farm this weekend to fetch ours. i feel behind, but it will all come together, i think.
this year it is christmas, but done our way, and a solstice family day too. in years past i have struggled with christmas but it is my whole history and it feels meaningful to re-create it for our needs/values and interests and leave the rest!

ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely tradition indeed! We got our tree from the forest this year too. Up here we can only find the scots pine which is a little bigger and with broader branches than the traditional tree. Wishing you a happy holiday!
